Pluto Lighting – LED Strip Warranty Policy
1. Standard Consumer Warranty (12 Months)
Pluto Lighting products are covered by a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase.
This warranty covers:

Manufacturing defects
-
Faulty LEDs
-
Premature failure not caused by incorrect installation, misuse, or environmental damage
This warranty does not cover damage caused by:
-
Incorrect installation or wiring
-
Use with incompatible LED drivers or dimmers
-
Water ingress (unless an IP-rated product is used and installed correctly)
-
Physical damage, crushing, or cutting in the wrong place
-
Overheating due to installation without aluminium extrusion
-
Modifications or improper soldering
-
Operation outside of recommended voltage ranges
Repairs or replacements will be at Pluto Lighting’s discretion.
Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act apply in addition to this warranty.
2. Extended Trade Warranty (24 Months)
A 24-month extended warranty applies only to products purchased and installed by:

Licensed electricians
-
Registered electrical companies
-
Cabinetmakers or shopfitters who use a licensed electrician for the wired installation
This extended warranty requires:

Proof of purchase
-
Proof of professional installation (invoice or job reference)
-
Use of an appropriate 24V LED driver with sufficient wattage headroom
-
Installation into suitable aluminium extrusion for thermal management
This warranty covers:
-
Manufacturing defects
-
Premature LED or PCB failure
-
Failures related to normal use within specifications
This warranty does not cover:
-
Failures caused by improper soldering or polarity reversal
-
Operation with non-compliant, flickering, or unstable power supplies
-
Damage from incorrect dimmer compatibility
-
Heat damage from no extrusion
-
Misuse, over-voltage, or modification
-
Damage from environmental exposure inconsistent with the product’s IP rating
3. What is Not Covered
Regardless of warranty type, the following are excluded:

Damage caused by cutting outside of marked cut points
-
Damage from adhesives, solvents, or cleaning chemicals
-
Diffuser yellowing (natural ageing)
-
Wear and tear from commercial environments
-
Damage from surges, brownouts, or poor-quality drivers
-
Any labour costs related to installation or removal
-
Any consequential or indirect losses
4. Warranty Claim Process
To make a claim, customers must provide:

Proof of purchase
-
Photos or video of the issue
-
Description of the installation method
-
For trade claims: proof of installation by a licensed electrician
Pluto Lighting may request the product be returned for inspection.
If approved, Pluto Lighting will:
-
Replace the product, or
-
Provide an equivalent alternative if discontinued
Refunds are at Pluto Lighting’s discretion.
5. Installation Responsibility
LED strip lighting is a low-voltage product, but any wiring of LED drivers or connection to mains supply must be carried out by a licensed electrician under AS/NZS 3000.
Improper installation voids the warranty.
